Time to get the forceps and wire cutters.. push hook in until the barbs exit.. cut it off before the barb.
Pull out hook. (Multiple barbs, cut "Eye" off of hook and pull that way.)

Probably went to ER.. They probably gave him some pain meds, Local Anesthetic. pushed it through, cut barb off, pulled it out or through. Bandaged him up, gave em' a tetanus shot and sent him home..

(And ALL of that if he was lucky..)

It's the ones where the barb hasn't gone through all the way that always gross me out, because I know that it will have to be pushed through the skin for removal. Blecch.
