Wound Myiasis: Maggot-Infested Abdominal Wound
Wound myiasis is an infestation of human tissue by fly larvae, commonly called maggots. Some flies lay eggs on or near wounds or sores, and the larvae enter the skin. Untreated or open wounds are a risk factor. Some species can burrow deeper into tissue and cause serious damage. Myiasis occurs mainly in tropical and subtropical regions, including Central and South America, Africa and the Caribbean. It is uncommon in the United States and occurs mostly in travelers. Treatment involves surgical removal of the larvae and daily wound cleaning. Myiasis does not spread from person to person. |

Must be such a terrible feeling as a mother to want to look after your baby above anything else but not be able to :(
