We treat animals like garbage but we do the kind thing when they are in pain and put them down yet people are forced to live when they no longer can bare it.

Re: Woman With Esthesioneuroblastoma

dr kevorkian is my hero. i truly believe if someone is in constant pain with a problem that has no known cure then assisted suicide is the answer. but i also understand why people are against assisted suicide. once the person is dead, who is to say that they wanted to die or not? someone may just be sick and tired of taking care of them or they may have taken out a life insurance policy on them or be a person named in the will. assisted suicide vs murder - could be a tough call for the coroner and the police dept to make.

I agree. Sometimes, we have to tell them it's ok to go. They may need to hear it. Although understandable, it's selfish to keep people around when they have made up their mind.

One of my medical or crime shows had an older man who wanted to die and they recorded him visually stating his wishes. A man, "put him to sleep", so to speak.

I believe they were trying to prove that the man was only following the sick man's wishes and that he was of sound mind. His wife was with him. He stated his name, his illness and why he wanted to die. It was not Kervorkian though.

Besides, we all pretty much know a friend who has a friend with a friend who will get you drugs to kill yourself if you so desire.

Re: Woman With Esthesioneuroblastoma

her life was made unlivable by the poor care she was getting. there is no reason why condition should have been left in such a disfiguring and painful way. her eyes should have been removed, and other procedures should have been done to reduce her suffering.
This is life under France's socialized medicine.

Re: Woman With Esthesioneuroblastoma

I'm all for assisted suicide and seeing a case like this only strengthens my opinion on that matter! it should not be allowed in this day of age to let a woman suffer in such manner and for 8 years!
