Re: Woman That Was Bitten in the Face by Her Pitbull She Rescued from Abusive Home
I'll probably get kicked in the balls for this comment but here goes anyway. Pit Bulls get a bad rap because if you look at the media, they are the only breeds that are reported about when it comes to dog attacks. I have seen many dog attacks and of 10 only one was a pitty. I own a Pitty, and a Rottweiler, and because I have no small children around on a daily basis, when small ones come around the dogs are put away. I would NEVER foster or adopt any dog that came from an abusive home, because just like people they have PTSD and can be triggered by things that you do not know about. When this young woman went down in a seizure, the dog was most likely triggered by past abuse. It really isn't the dog's fault, not the woman's fault either. I feel bad for all involved. I hate that this dog had to die but shit happens. It is sad when people abuse dogs, but after the abuse is over, they can be unpredictable and dangerous. It's not like they can go to counseling or something. It's fucked up. I feel for the people who rescue dogs, as a dog lover it kills me to see this kind of thing. It is not the dog's fault, but because of its past abuse it should never have been trusted.

You mean after it was euthanised? I imagine it was cremated. Then its ashes were scraped out of the oven. Then they were put into a bin. Then the refuse was collected and taken to landfill. Following which it was buried. Then the land was redeveloped. After that they built a car park on it and a shop. The shop sold pets. They sold a dog to a woman. But it ate her face. I don't know what happened to that dog though.

They are the breed getting reported by the media because overwhelmingly they are the breed that, you know, eats people’s faces. There is a difference between being bit and being mauled.

Re: Woman That Was Bitten in the Face by Her Pitbull She Rescued from Abusive Home
Dogs do not understand epilepsy or medical emergencies. When an owner has a seizure, the dog often perceives the sudden change as a terrifying threat or a high-stress situation. Jerking, shaking, and twitching mimic the movements of a prey animal in distress. This can accidentally trigger a dog's prey drive. Groaning, heavy gasping, or foaming at the mouth sounds completely unnatural to a dog. This causes acute fear and confusion. During a medical crisis, a person's body chemistry changes rapidly. A massive spike in stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline can alarm the dog. When an owner is unconscious and does not respond, the dog panics. Many dogs start by licking or nudging to wake up their owner. When that fails, the panic can escalate into frustration and aggression. Karma stated that the dog had been a loving pet and had never shown any signs of aggression or warning behaviors before the seizure occurred. |

I was thinking every one of these thoughts myself. I have one who is the sweetest thing alive. I adopted her at 6 months (a non-house trained teen dog was its own level of hell |
