Bingo. She hid her drug use from him since the time they began dating. After having several previous episodes like this where the boyfriend did try to help her, this time he chose to record the event, with the intention of showing it to her afterwards to get her to quit. This didn't work, and he chose to break up with her.

I think you got it dead on. She's probably been doing this for a while, and is deteriorating.

I don't know how he could ever break her of the addiction. It's like Crack. Once you get on it, you are gone forever. I don't know what the actual recovery rate is, but it's probably NOT very good.
