Woman Addicted to a New Illegal Drug Vape
A Malaysian couple living together faced a horrifying situation when the girlfriend became addicted to a new type of electronic drug vape. After using the substance, she began to tremble uncontrollably, her eyes were vacant, and she acted like a real-life zombie and fell over. Her boyfriend recorded the whole scene with his phone. The girl frequently lied to her boyfriend to get money just to secretly buy the vape drug. Malaysia’s vape market is significant, valued at approximately RM3.5 billion in 2023, with a growing prevalence of e-cigarette use (5.8% of adults in 2023, up from 0.8% in 2011). Popular flavors include fruit, coffee, and menthol/mint, with 81% of daily vapers using nicotine-containing e-liquids. Vaping has raised public health concerns, particularly among youth, with 19,450 students caught vaping in schools in 2023. There have been reports of vapes laced with illegal drugs, contributing to fears of a “worsening health crisis.” A 2025 report highlighted a smuggling syndicate at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) involving vapes worth US$4 million, some potentially containing illicit substances. Additionally, a 2019 case reported a Malaysian hospitalized with lung issues after vaping, possibly linked to fungal or drug-related contamination.   |
