Re: What DILAUDID Does in 3 Easy Steps
the middle picture shows how bruises in falls or injury follow gravity in a couple more days the bruise would be down to her chin and neck when elderly fall they get the racoon effect, the blood goes where it can in the tight skin areas then gravity works and the bruise falls, in bruised you can tell the age by the color, red/purple new then they start to turn more brown then yellow/green. it looks worse then it is, I've worked in Geratrics since 76, when I'd come in and do my rounds and see a fall victim bruised it would break my heart, I loved my old folks, taught me alot listening to their stories. it is one thing to read about someone riding across the US on a wagon, it is another thing to hear a 98 yr old tell you about it. |

Re: What DILAUDID Does in 3 Easy Steps
Umm...actually Dilaudid (hydromorphone) is about 3 times more potent than Oxycodone and Morphine. A 4mg Hydromorphone is ~12mg Oxycodone/~12mg morphine. You could have taken more oxycodone than hydromorphone which would lead you to that conclusion. This gets VERY dangerous if confused in a hospital. I had a nurse think hydromorphone was the generic for morphine. The patient was receiving 4mg of morphine every 4 hours, the nurse switched her to 4mg of Hydromorphone every 4 hours, the patient slipped into respiratory failure and died. Wait, isn't Hydromorphone on the Beer's List? I hate the overuse of potent narcotics on the elderly. I also love working in Geriatrics and Long term care. Great folks and you are right about their stories! |
