must have forced the cutting pace. im told the spin limit are only correct if the cutting pace is not too hurried. but if you try pushing the spinning disc too much against what you are cutting, the disc is liable to bend, twist and break. Next time, let the disc bite at an easy pace. more time and electric consumption but its safer |

I can tell this guy was inexperienced. See the rough hole in the middle of the disc? There should be a thin sheet metal plate (see pic) there for the lock nut to tighten onto. It's not there because he either used the lock nut intended for a grinding disc (this is a cutting disc), or didn't fit the required washer (pic below). This results in uneven distribution of clamping force on the thinner, lighter (and therefore faster) disc which then warps and explodes at high RPM. |
