Beautiful creatures. Tragic.  “An elephant as pictured on the viral Facebook photo would be about 12 months premature. There would be no way that animal could survive. It would be about the same as a human baby born at 2.3 months. As far as the elephant goes, people should have an innate sense of the size of things. An elephant carries a baby for 22 months and when the baby is born it weighs on average about 225 pounds. |

I bet that baby elephant's mum died first, and they retrieved the baby from the womb. Poor wee soul died along with the mum |

Even though it's dead, it's sweeter to think of it as a just-born miniature elephant. It's really pretty. :)
