The fire broke out around 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Evangeline Street and North Foster Drive in Baton Rouge while Dupre was working in an elevated bucket truck when a fire occured that was sparked by a mechanical failure in the bucket mechanism.

He attempted to climb down or lower himself but ultimately fell approximately 20 feet to the asphalt below.

Bevan Dupre suffered extensive burns from being trapped in the burning bucket as fire and thick black smoke engulfed the lift mechanism.

In addition to the burns, his condition is complicated by trauma from the 20-foot fall. Dupre was rushed to a local hospital in critical/serious condition.

His sister, Caroline, has launched a GoFundMe to assist with medical bills and care for his family.
