The Tsar Bladder Stone Removed from Patient That Was Bedridden for 20 Years
" The Tsar Stone " was removed from a patient by Arzamas urologists at the Vladimirsky City Emergency Hospital. This was reported by the head physician of the Arzamas Central City Hospital Oleg Kurakhtanov. A patient who has not gotten out of bed for over 20 years due to a spinal injury came to the hospital. An ultrasound revealed bilateral kidney enlargement, and an additional examination revealed a huge stone in the bladder. It is 11 cm long and 6 cm wide. It weighs no less than 300 grams. The calculus formed due to improper functioning of the bladder: the stone compressed the openings of the ureters, which subsequently disrupted the flow of urine and provoked stage 4 hydronephrosis. The patient underwent surgery and had a kidney stone removed. |
