Re: True Hermaphrodite
you are correct. but i would imagine it is easier said than done. my sister worked with a woman whos "granddaughter" kept having vaginal infections. the "grandaughter" was a couple years old. when the doctor examined the grandchild, a penis was found to be growing inside the vagina. the parents of the child were told that until the child started going through puberty that they should not consider the child as a male or female. whichever was the dominant sex would show in puberty... whether the child develop breasts or started growing a beard and such. but how in the hell do you raise a child with an open ended gender issue? do you dare put it in a dress lest it end up being dominantly male? you've been raising it as a female and now you realize you may have a son instead. what about school? which bathroom should it use? girls or boys? and what if little carla ends up to be more of a carl? do you send it back to the same school after summer vacation but with a name change? and what about ID? especially if you live where even children have to have ID. what should it say for gender? you put half and half in your coffee but on an ID card? |
