I was running after my duck to save her because she was getting over mated.

I slipped, somehow put all my weight on my right leg and as I went down I heard it go!

I had the exact same surgery. I got punched in the head, and as I spun my foot stayed planted. It sucked and has never been the same.

What did they do above the knee?
That's the incision they make when they insert the metal rod. They literally drill the bone and pound the rod into place, then put screws in.

My Grandmother sustained a similar injury while simply standing in the shower about 15 years ago. 2 titanium plates and some screws.
Hope that heals well. Follow up with physical therapy. It helps.
