Re: Teratomas
I've had 2 of these removed. I had to have emergency surgery at 21 weeks gestation to have it removed, was the size of a grapefruit. Was told of the severity of it after the surgery, it was positioned in such a way, any jarring could have caused it to burst, I would have bled to death quickly. We would have never found this Dermoid cyst but because I was pregnant it showed up on the ultrasound. So in my eyes my daughter saved my life. They also had to remove my left ovary & fallopian tube. 8 years later I was pregnant again, having horrible pains went to the emergency room & found out I had another one. These are extremely rare so to have 2 of these is unbelievable. Unfortunately I miscarried, had the surgery once again & this one was even larger about the size of a small pumpkin 14cm. Just a word of advice always get a second opinion, the first doctor group I was with kept telling me I was fine & they would keep an eye on it. Well they didn't. They were very nonchalant and said I would have a c-section and it would be removed at that time. Fine they are experts right? Went to see the high risk doctors & they said this had to come out ASAP. After that my labor was a breeze lol. Only had to push for 15 min. |
