Re: Tapeworm Takes Over Sushi Lover’s Body
I'm a big fan of the show The Monsters Inside Me, and the number of people who have almost died from picking up parasites after eating raw or undercooked seafood is pretty staggering. And this is why I don't eat seafood (which might actually be considered a crime in Louisiana, what with all the gumbo and crawfish boils...)

Re: Tapeworm Takes Over Sushi Lover’s Body
These larvae (which are actually acquired from PORK or contaminated water/vegetables, NOT fish - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cysticercosis ) are microscopic when they leave the gut, they actually travel through the bloodstream, and when they end up wedged in a capillary that's where they encyst themselves.

Re: Tapeworm Takes Over Sushi Lover’s Body
Hate to burst everybody's bubble..........BUT, these images are actually from a patient in their 70's that ate raw pork and the images on the radiographs were from the calcified cysts around the larvae. These images have been around for a few years in the medical community. Hope this helps.
