Holding a grudge for the death of his wife in a road mishap a year ago, a man in Bundi district attacked his 40-year-old friend with an axe while he was sitting on stage at a cultural event organized on Hanuman Jayanti late Tuesday night.

The victim, identified as Banwari Meena (40), was left unconscious with a deep cut in his skull. He is admitted at a private hospital in Kota and his condition is stated to be critical.

The SHO said that Gurjar held Meena as responsible for his wife’s death and was looking for an opportunity to take revenge.

On Tuesday night around 11.15pm, when a cultural event was underway in the village, he attacked Meena while he was sitting on the stage.

Gurjar can be seen entering from behind a curtain at a corner of the stage and striking Meena on the head with an axe.
