Three things that come immediately to mind are psychiatric issues like schizophrenia , pica (though likely not as there is nothing nutritional in these) or bulimia. Given that if it was bulimia then they would have been swallowed over a long period of time and therefore would have caused problems before there were so many, I would say it is likely a psychiatric issue. Whatever it is, I hope they get the necessary psychological support and not just the surgery and sent on their way. |

My mom used to tell me as a kid do not swallow the toothpaste or mouthwash....The "toothbrush"was an obvious guess not to swallow... I guess he didn't get the memo.
