does look more like an infection than stab wounds to me. doctors wouldnt put that medication if they were. doctors [that arent clueless, not all doctors are that intelligent] could prob. distinguish infection from stab wound.

I have no idea this is!
I do know that the dangly things hanging from the wounds are strips of gauze used to help absorb & drain the wounds--and to keep the wounds open longer to facillitate healing from the inside-out.

Looks like stab wounds. Blue stuff is probably disinfectant or something to highlight the photographs. The cotton strips wick out moisture - infection prevention. Unless the kid's dead - then the cotton strips also wick out moisture, to prevent putrefaction during embalming/visitation.

Could also be excised tumours. Or buckshot.
