Re: Some EMO Girl Needs Serious Help

I know she has an illness. I too am a self mutilator but by no means that severe.

What strikes me as odd is that she never touches her tattoos. When I get to the stage that I have to cut I don't care where, I'm surely not going to go around my tattoos. Yes, I have some.

She doesn't want to die and neither do I. If she did she would have already killed herself. Stitching up those wounds proves she knows what she is doing. I've had some that needed stiching and I never did have them stitched. Some have scars a half inch across. I can't believe she is not in an instution with cutting that severe.

I don't and never did "advertise" what I do. Actually, I'm ashamed of it. I think she may be stuck on the attention that it brings. I too believe the I want to die message is a farce. She had help in taking some of the photos. She clearly needs a lot of help.

For those of you who are making fun of her, what goes around comes around. I think her life has to be pitiful enough.

Re: Some EMO Girl Needs Serious Help

I suppose I'm too late for this but as a fellow self-harmer I'd really like to talk to her.

My cuts tend to be that deep but not nearly that long; she probably did lose quite a bit of blood (and yeah the clot is from the blood congealing) which makes me slightly amazed that she managed to record all of it. Extreme blood loss is a lot more upsetting then people make it out to be. You definitely don't drift off peacefully. Also, post-cutting incidents like that are the most painful. Your whole body just starts to ache after the initial endorphin rush wears off.

She must stitch herself up. Those definitely aren't professionally done. I actually recommend getting a stapler if you can. My father is an ER doc and he got me a stapler -- it's much faster and easier.

The one cut that I ever made that was like hers needed over 300 stitches (I nicked an artery and had to go to the ER) -- the stitches suck, your arm/leg etc swells and they hurt.

And, to end it all, I love rats too & had many pet rats over the years. Are those her rats milling around while she cuts herself? Weird.

Re: Some EMO Girl Needs Serious Help

It seems, at least from reading the replies here that females seem to be into the whole cutting thing more so then guys. Just an observation though..

Psycho-type speaking, yes, guys tend to "act out" while girls "act in." This is why you have more women diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and more men diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder.

I have known quite a few guys who self-harmed, however.

^ Also, many guys who self-harm end up in the penal system where it's not really taken quite as seriously. Women tend to end up in the psychiatric system.

Re: Some EMO Girl Needs Serious Help

pfff, it's fairly hard to kill yourself. Most major arteries are shielded by muscle which can be tough to cut through. And painful. Veins collapse. I don't imagine that the girl in the photos studied any sort of anatomy book -- I never have. You just kind of follow the curves of your body. Cut against the bone, gives you better traction and you're less likely to nick anything important.
