Sleeping in Contacts Gone Wrong
This is what an ulcer in your eye looks like, and the cause of this particular ulcer was repeated sleeping in contacts, make sure you take the time to remove them at night so this doesn’t happen to you! |

Re: Sleeping in Contacts Gone Wrong
Jesus, I've had too much to drink and snoozed off with my contacts still in before but they are itchy as hell the next day...how do you repeatedly sleep without taking them out?

Re: Sleeping in Contacts Gone Wrong
I'm not proud of it but I had this happen to me. Not that it's my defense but this happened at the height of my opiate addiction. Woke up one morning and my vision was blurry. I waited a few days, because well was an idiot, and went to urgent care. The dr barely even looked at my eyes and told me to remove my contacts immediately. They got me into the ophthalmologist within minutes. I had 2 ulcers in my left eye, 12 more starting and 14 starting on the other eye. The spots that were actual ulcers were less than a half a mm from burning completely thru my cornea. I was very lucky I caught it when I did. Both of the ulcers were on the edge of my cornea so I don't "see" the scar tissue. And the dr told me that the only way I can ever safely wear contacts again is to use the daily wear lenses. But I can barely wear those for more than 4 hours before they bother my eyes so I don't wear them often. One of my biggest fears is going blind and I could have destroyed my already shitty vision just because I was too lazy to take my contacts out. |
