My dad got bit by a brown recluse spider once but got it treated fairly quick so no damage occured. There are so many different kinds of spiders here, my garage is inhabited by some black widows. It's bad luck to kill spiders so I let them be, not just because I'm supersticious but because I respect animals, especially something that is so small and can cause so much harm.

big doesn't always mean poisonous. the brown recluse is tiny and deadly. hard to see when they are sneaking up.
