What's so sad is that a lot of diabetics can't feel the pain of ulcerations on the bottom of their feet, and depending on their age, can no longer get into a position to look at the bottom of their foot.

Then, follow your nose...it always knows! Seriously though, a diabetic who really cares about controlling their blood sugar will not only be able to prevent this from happening, but ALSO will lose weight and be able to examine those feet. Since my diagnosis 4 mos. ago, I check my blood sugar about 4-8 times a day and in 4 months have lost over 40 lbs. I hate seeing how people eat junk and suck down sodas, knowing what I know. Diabetes is such a life-altering disease. |

momzilla you are so right changeing ones lifestyle when dealing with diabetes i had a friend whos foot was alcerated and cut off she still wouldnt stop eating improperly as a matter of fact she drinked and ate pretty much anything she desired. one day we were in the mall she was complaining about being stiff and in alot of pain she died the following day. |
