Re: Scalped Nipples (Caused by Allergy)
I used to get a (much milder) skin reaction from laundry soap. I had to switch to laundry detergent that is dye and perfume free. I also found that I could get good cleaning with 1/2 to 1/3 the amount of detergent recommended by the manufacturer. This left far less irritating residue on my clothes, bed sheets, towels, etc. (Manufacturers often recommend more than what is needed in order to sell more soap, but, more soap equals more residue.) Anyway, I'm surprised that it takes a year to clear up 'cause it doesn't look that bad. Do you suspect that there is something in your environment that you perpetuates the reaction and thus slows healing? |

Re: Scalped Nipples (Caused by Allergy)
I actually use special laundry soap. And yes it takes this long. It's not because it becomes worse, but because the skin keeps getting ripped open. When it dries up it heals just fine, but somehow there is always a point that it rips again... But it me taking a shower.... My bra getting stuck to it... Or sometimes the swelling created cracks in the skin. |

Re: Scalped Nipples (Caused by Allergy)
Hey! I just remembered. When my wife was breastfeeding our kids, she used to apply some special cotton patches to absorb any milk leakage during the day. They were extremelly soft. What if you combine that with some ointment, it could actually help. |
