My first post ever so I hope this works! I don't think I've seen this posted before.

"A 72-year-old man presented with a large periostal defect on the vertex of his scalp (Figure 1 A). He had received scalp radiotherapy for tinea capitis before 60 years. He had diabetes mellitus for 40 years, with microvascular and macrovascular complications. For the past 30 years, gradual thinning of the skin occurred with progressive exposure of the scalp. Pain and discharge led him to seek medical care. Repeated biopsies from the edges of the necrosis were negative for malignancy. A skin graft failed and he was reluctant to undergo a complex scalp reconstruction. Local wound care for several months resulted in a marked decrease in size of the necrotic area with viable granulation tissue (Figure 1B). The patient was lost to follow-up. Five years later, he was seen again with a huge exophytic lump on his scalp (Figure 1C). Biopsy showed basal cell carcinoma (BCC). He was referred to the oncology department, but died several months later because of a massive cerebrovascular accident."

At least the brain bleed got him first, can't imagine a good outcome from the radiation and chemo that thing would require.

Why would someone undergo that kind of treatment for ringworm? Isn't that a little extreme?
