A lot of these people are from tropical and subtropical areas where hygiene is not well practiced. Oral myiasis is rare, and tends to occur following dental extraction, nosocomial infection, in drug addicts, visits to tropical countries, and in psychiatric patients (read: mouth breathers). The most guilty species of fly known for these infections seem to be the myiatic flies, the botfly, blowfly and screwfly. |

My question is....how do you let it get that bad...I mean, I see 1 maggot under my skin and I am going to the doctor. I mean, I know that some countries have poor access to healthcare...but damn!
