Thanks, I can't imagine how difficult childbirth can be.

Still, please know my initial post there was not in anyway referenced to childbirth and it's issues! It was in regard to the other conditions posted on here. Perhaps, I worded it poorly.

If you'd look again I gave a thumbs up out of appreciation for the you women that present these interesting things.

Considering my unbelievably low pain tolerance, it's probably a good thing that childbirth is something I'll never be able to experience. My best friend has 3 kids, and she had ridiculously fast labors with all of them...none of them were born any longer than about an hour after her water broke. So she pretty much had no choice but to not have any drugs!

Ever since I was 11 years old my knees have clicked and grinded, the cartilage is shot and the bones pretty much grind together. One winter when I was 19, I couldn't get up the stairs in the house I lived in because the pain was so bad.

I'm 27 and I'm currently recovering from surgery to repair a grade V tibial plateau fracture where I also damaged a lot of the cartilage/ligaments around my knee. I'll probably need a full knee replacement within the next 10 years.

I also have EDS and it's not fun Crippling joint pain from the age of 5, constant sprains and dislocations. My mother couldn't hold me by the hand when I was little because she'd dislocate my wrist. I go through a lot of effort to build up muscle around my joints to hold them together, but as soon as you get an injury you're back to square one. The bone fractures I've had all involve joints, because when your bendy bits fail catastrophically the bones can't deal with the stress. Plus it makes simple things that people don't even think about into painful and complicated issues. Sleeping for example - I have to be careful about how I lay and align my joints or I'll wake up with a strained or dislocated joint.

PS - Great thread - the only one I specifically look for when I come on here. Fascinating stuff every time!

I thought I was the only one who did that. I've woken up 3 times in the pass 2 months with a dislocated shoulder.

I have the habit of sleeping with my arms crossed to keep my shoulders in line. For me it's usually a hip or a knee, though the joints connecting my ribs to my spine (which are supposed to be fused and not move at all) are also weak so I can collapse my chest if I fall asleep on my stomach. When I was little I could reach under my lowest couple of ribs and pull them back out. That was awesome for seriously grossing people out. I can still dislocate my wrists on command.
