A middle aged domestic helper was found dead in her room. Picture one shows the scene of death. The pattern of blood splatter in the scene denotes an arterial oringin while the blood soiling the pillow points to its veinus origin. The knife used to commit suicide is placed on the upper chest and lower neck. The right hand was just touching the handle of the knife.
Picture 2 shows cut wounds of the abdomen,they were very superficial and surrounded by multiple hesitation mark.
The third picture shows a cut wound of the throat. Hesitation marks can be noticed at the lower end and to the left of the wound. The deepest point of the wound was in the middle of the neck where trachea was completely served.
The sequence of events in this case was that a first attempt to commit suicide by cutting the abdominal wall was unsuccessful due to the superficial nature of such wound,so the victim pulled her self up and finished the job by slashing her throat.
In this post and the previous one one can conclude that once the decision to commit suicide is taken,the victim insists to finish the job whatever the hardships he/she might suffer to accomplish it.

A young girl gave birth to this baby in her own bathroom. She used a scissor to cut the umbilical cord and the infant's neck. The dead body was thrown from the bathroom window to roof of the next building.

It is very common to incenerate the body after death to destroy evidence at the scene of the crime,the cause of death or the victim's identity. The temperature and time needed for complete charring is considerably high and long.
Postmortem burns are chracterized by vesicles filled with steam and minimal fluid content,absence of erythema at the base which usually has a yellow discoloratio together with absence of soot in trachea and absence of considerable concentrations of carboxy haemoglobine in the blood.
Cooking and stretching of the skin under the effect of heat leads to splitting of the dermis and corium of the skin in a way resembling lacerations or slash wounds as seen in the picture at groin. No bleeding from the edges can be seen. Big blood vessels or nerves some times can be seen transversing the affected area.

Usually skin protected by tight cloth such as elastic bands of underwear or a bra escape the destructive effect of fire helping to identify the colour of the victim as shown in the first picture.
Victims surviving for a considerable period after fire usually develop stress stomch ulcers(curling ulcers) as shown in the second picture. Haemorrhages from these ulcers may contribute to the ultimate cause of death.

A forty years old male,recently fired from his job committed suicide by drinking a concentrated solution of drain cleaning powder(Drano). He was admited to hospital and survived for about 12 hous. Some of the corrosive solution was aspirated into larynx and tachea. Perforation of the large intestine and soaponification of inta-abdominal fatty tissue were observed

A coal miner was injured in a mine accident when a heavy coal trolley overturned and 30 tone of weight fell over his leg. He was rushed to our hospital for further management. Upon presentation,There was a severe lower limb injury with a coarsely sutured wound present over the upper 3/4 of the leg. with evidence of fracture. Patient was admitted under orthopaedics and plastic surgery. The patient was taken to theatre immediately and assessed. there was severe crushing of the soft tissues. Circumferential degloving of the leg. , complete loss of muscles of the anterolateral compartment of the leg.

A young factory worker was accidently injured while working in the mill. his left hand got crushed. He was referred to plastic surgery for management .

Upon initial look it looked as though the thumb was devascularised. but on close examination it was found that there is still intact blood circulation and nerve supply so the thumb was salvaged using careful repair of injured structures and K-wire fixation of thumb and Tendon repair and groin flap coverage

the 2nd MCP joint open dislocation was reduced and collateral ligament repaired with sutures only.

Police find body of woman in an advanced state of decomposition inside the house in JP

The body of a woman, still unidentified, was found naked inside a closed house with a sale sign, on Sunday morning (09), already in an advanced state of decomposition.

The house is located on Rua João Machado, No. 447, Center of João Pessoa. Police arrived to the scene after complaints from a resident of the street, he felt the smell that was coming out of the place and decided to skip the window that was open. At that moment the man found the body and the police fired.

Upon arriving at the site, the officers also entered the home and consisted occurrence.

The victim also showed signs of burns. There are signs that the body is in place for at least a week.

The delegate of Costa Homicide Dulcinea went to the meeting place of the corpse and the Monetary Policy Committee forwarded the VTR 1266, under the command of Sergeant Vital and Cape Murilo to perform the isolation area. The IML was driven to make the removal of the body.
