With most babies who are affected by gastroschisis, the doctor will attempt to push as much of the bowel back inside the child's body through the hole where the navel should be. If it all won't fit due to the baby's small size or some form of inflammation, they'll put a sterile plastic bag over what they can't fit in, then try to put in a little bit more at a time until it's all in the right place. It's rare they have to do surgery but it does happen.

I think seeing abuse of babies upsets me more.

If this child was stillborn, he or she didn't suffer any pain.

I'm sure the parents do, but, he/she is literally inside out and probably would have been too underdeveloped to survive.
