It happens all the time. You never see those videos where people think it's hilarious to get a dog snarling and acting aggressive? They used to be a staple on Americas Funniest Home Videos. I always hated it. And the attack wasn't unprovoked. That's already been explained. Unprovoked would be her sitting quietly and being attacked out of nowhere. She was displaying irratic and threatening behavior. Just because she was having fun, doesn't mean it wasn't. If the dog isn't used to seeing people act that way, it's going to freak the dog out. If no one is telling the dog how to act, it's going to react they way it sees fit - which is often inappropriate. |

Why is it that someone can't point out the obvious, that pit bulls can be dangerous, without people jumping in and claiming it's all a misunderstanding and they are all wonderful dogs. Training is everything. Yada yada. But the fact still remains that they are strong and determined so when agitated they can be very dangerous. It's a simple fact, no judgement. This person is lucky to be alive.  |

So man ignorant comments in every one of these Pitbull threads. The people in here saying that every Pitbull should be put down has clearly never owned a Pitbull before and they are going off of what they see on here and in the news. I grew up with multiple Pitbulls and they never got aggressive with my family. I was 5 years old climbing on the dogs, getting in their face and pulling on them and never did any of them show any signs of aggression. Pitbulls are one of the most loyal dogs you can own but if you don't raise them property shit like this happens. But this "attack" was not random, the dog was in protection mode for the kids. These people clearly never took the time to ensure the dog knew she was no threat to the kids. |

To be perfectly honest, there is a certain type of person who has these dogs. Around where I live, they are the mutant, scally type, who all smoke weed, wear NorthFace coats, and wear Nike 110's. They all look like this: do I need to say anymore????

There's a difference in speaking against the scum you live around, and putting down EVERYONE who has a Pit Bull. The scum is the minority. People and animals that are normal and behave, do not show up on the radar. When has the media or our entertainment interest ever been geared toward "ordinary, every day" news? It isn't. "Disaster" is what catches our interest and whets the appetite. |

It was unprovoked  regardless of what the dog thought, there was no reason for that to happen.I wouldn't want my dog biting anyone for any reason. Having a dog that bites people for any reason is not acceptable. |

The scum might be the minority, but where I live pits and Rottweilers account for 75% of dog bites. So maybe better controls over dog owners would be a good idea? |

I don't think the answer is to put all pitbulls down. The real answer is to put all the pitbull owners down.  The problem would vanish overnight. |

I think it would be an excellent idea.  As I'm sure we've both seen, most people shouldn't be in charge of a tadpole or hamster, let alone a dog. The only problem is the people in charge of making laws are usually idiots, who don't know what they're doing. There's also no way(money, manpower) of inforcing new laws like that. |
