Pictures of a Shark Attack Victim From Australia
In this Australian case, a previously healthy 32-year-old man who enjoyed bodyboarding found himself in a dire situation. Within a mere 2 hours of a shark attack that left him with injuries to both legs, he was swiftly airlifted to the hospital via a primary retrieval helicopter. To control the bleeding, tourniquets were applied to both of his injured limbs. During the journey to the hospital, his condition worsened due to acute blood loss, necessitating intubation with an endotracheal tube to manage severe agitation. Upon arrival at the hospital, the patient was promptly transferred from the helipad to the operating theater. Vital signs indicated a substantial loss of blood (systolic blood pressure below 90 mm Hg and a pulse rate exceeding 130 bpm), prompting the initiation of rational thromboelastometry (ROTEM)-guided massive transfusion. This comprehensive transfusion regimen included 1 liter of normal saline, 10 units of packed red blood cells, 1 unit of platelets, 9 units of cryoprecipitate, 1 unit of fresh frozen plasma, and 4 grams of fibrinogen concentrate. These interventions led to hemodynamic stability, with blood pressure reaching 120/60 mm Hg and a pulse rate of 125 bpm, allowing life-saving surgery to commence within just 1 hour of his arrival. Upon the initial intraoperative exploration, medical professionals discovered a severe laceration on the left leg and a smaller wound on the medial thigh of the right leg. All wounds were meticulously irrigated and debrided. Although the left popliteal artery was visualized and found to be uninjured, immediate thrombectomy was necessary to address a left popliteal vein thrombus. X-rays revealed evidence of teeth marks on the left femur and an avulsed fibular head. The patient received prophylactic antibiotics, including cephazolin, metronidazole, and gentamicin, before being admitted to the intensive care unit for further care and monitoring. |

Re: Pictures of a Shark Attack Victim From Australia
Fuck that shit! Why would you swim in waters where fish big enough to eat you in two bites live and hunt??! Did his brain fall out before he decided to to into the water? I listen to a channel by Hal, called "Sharks Happen" and he tells only true accounts of shark attacks and other shark inneractions since the beginning of written records. Check him out, it's fun to listen to.

Re: Pictures of a Shark Attack Victim From Australia
I’ve been swimming with sharks, including Great Whites, for 23years. Haven’t been bit yet. But if it does ever happen, EVERYONE knows to get pictures and post on here!
