In 1883, the French venereologist Jean Alfred Fournier described a series in which 5 previously healthy young men suffered from a rapidly progressive gangrene of the penis and scrotum without apparent cause. i have to wonder if fournier felt a sense of pride when he was told this disease was going to be named after him? i also have to wonder how many of the present people named jean fournier (google it, there's more than just a couple of them) realize there was a venereal disease doctor with the same name and there is a nasty gangrene that shares their last name.i do believe you might be right. a google image search of fourniers gangrene brought up a couple more gems...  ·  · |
