Well it's really unhealthy and I'd agree it seems like a form of abuse to a young child. Although from my understanding, the Chinese traditionally (like some other cultures) view plumpness as a sort of beauty indicating one's status or wealth. Considering the girl is from some village, it wouldn't surprise me in the least the villagers still keep to the 'traditional aesthetic'.

sometimes its not food that causes this. i knew of a 250 pound 5 yr old that ate no differently than a normal child that age. her problem was, she wasnt able to sweat. |

sadisticfucker- as already pointed out dumbass, Sumo is a Japanese Sport, not Chinese!! Also, it's a girl- not a boy!!! Poor kids legs are already bowed due to the wt.; she's gonna have a lifetime of problems.
