This 17-year-old man was rushed to the emergency room 2 hours after an amputation of his nose and upper lip when he was slashed through the windshield in a car accident.

The amputated nose and upper lip were wrapped in mull and frozen at the scene of the accident.

The upper lip was continuously amputated with the nose, resulting in a 90% deformity of the upper lip.
The amputated nose and upper lip segment was immediately taken to the operating room for examination.

Microsurgical staples were used to mark the upper labial arteries (1.0 mm diameter) bilaterally and the left dorsal nasal artery (0.5 mm).
