Re: INDIA: 5 People Burned by Gas Cylinder Explosion
According to sources, this is the house of Nihal Singh Jangra. A small 5 kg gas cylinder was kept in the outer room of his house. Suddenly, gas leaked from it and a fire broke out. When the family started shouting, the neighbour Deep Chand Soni (67), his son Dinesh Soni (48) and his wife Sulochana (40) came to rescue them. Then suddenly there was a blast in the cylinder. These three along with Nihal Singh's son Kuldeep alias Billu (45) and daughter-in-law Meera (43) got badly burnt. Hearing the cries, the villagers came to help. All the five burnt people were admitted to the Burns Hospital in Hisar for treatment. Here Kuldeep and Meera had more than 90 percent burn injuries and were referred to AIIMS as there was a high risk to their lives. The condition of the other three members of the Soni family is critical. The villagers said that the house has not suffered much damage but there is gloom in the village as lives are in danger. On learning about this incident, a police team from the Sadar police station reached the spot and investigated. |
