My Story

I'm sorry, couldn't think of a good title so that's why it's lame OK!? xD

I'm diagnosed with major depression and Cyclothymia(think bipolar-light)

I started to hurt myself at the age of 12 and continued on doing that till the age 16.
I hurt myself using razors, lighters, scissors and I also abused a lot of pills and drugs.

I've only had one relapse since then(I'm 18 now) and you'll see it on the pictures.
And do, the yin yang is not a tattoo, it's just something I scribbled on myself.

1st picture: left shin
2nd picture: thighs
3rd picture: left arm
4th picture: left wrist (here's the relapse)
5th picture: upper left arm

None of my cut's have been life threatening but some of them would look a lot better now if they had gotten stitches.

Sure some of you are going to call me emo and other things now but I don't really care.
These scars will forever be on my body and I'm proud of them.
They exist to remind me of what I've been through.

Re: My Story

There is such a thing as being past all this.

It happens all the time.

Many lives have a "wilderness" period where it seems that there is no hope of change. This is an illusion.

All things come to pass. (eventually)

No matter what is may seem like in the moment.

Everything has a 'season' and 'seasons' change.

You will pass through many 'seasons' in your life.

It's easy to believe your fears and darker thoughts, but really, they are just fleeting ideas and have no more weight than what you accord them.

Some of your seemingly "worst" experiences can end up being your greatest assets further down the road.

Re: My Story

Thank you for sharing and glad you have overcome the urge to cut. Let those scars be a reminder of the dark place you were in and how you are strong enough to overcome anything!

Re: My Story

I've been there. I used to cut myself as well. Thankfully I haven't relapsed in about 11 months. It's a very dark road for some and I'm glad you are proud of where you have been and feel all the stronger for it. I know on this site it's very hard to post something like this and avoid all the rude remarks, and I applaud your courage and thank you for sharing this with us.

Re: My Story

I just had a relapse after over a year of not injuring myself. Thanks for sharing your story as inspiration.
