I have geographic tongue and it looks exactly like your son's tongue. I can't handle spicy food, or anything too hot (temperature). Too much citrus bothers me, also.

It also flares up when I'm under a lot of stress, or around my menstrual cycle. (Obviously that wouldn't apply to your son.)

My dentist gave me the definitive diagnosis, it's completely benign, but it can be painful. I learned recently both my brother and my grandfather have it, too, but they both can handle spicy stuff.

Benign migratory glossitis is aka "geographic tongue" these photos are not pics of bmg
. What you are showing is "fissured tongue" aka "scrotal tongue" Completely benign and harmless except for spicy food issues.

It isn't painful at all. When girls ask me "Why is your tongue like that?" I tell them "It is ribbed for your pleasure." Haha

This is a picture of my geographic tongue. When it's that time of the month it flares up, so it's flared up at the moment.
