My Ruptured Calf

Now this isn't really gross, nasty or life-threatening by a long shot, but it was painful as hell and the damage may never go away.

I jumped up off a bed one day and went to push off the floor with my right foot. As I pushed off, I felt a "pop" in my right calf, as if someone had hit me in the back of the leg with a stick.

My right calf had ruptured, and the calf muscle had partially torn away from its attachment to the Achilles tendon. Doctors said there was no way to actually fix it, because the tendon itself had not separated.

Within a day, blood filled the entire calf and these pictues are about three weeks in. The pain was so bad I had to keep the foot raised or it would throb like crazy. Eventually it "healed" and I can walk normally. . . but:

Well, 7 months later, I now have a nasty "ridge" between the calf and the tendon, the calf feels like shit when I flex it, and whenever I exercise it, the massive scar tissue in there causes a lot of pain.

Lucky me.

Re: My Ruptured Calf

Damn. Thanks for sharing. Did you see a doctor? If anything they might be able to give you something good for the pain.
