Realistically, fire pokers make for an incredibly efficient weapon.
If you kill him 'in self defense', aside from the fact that you will likely be put away for decades in merry ol England, you need to be prepared for emotional trauma far worse than anything you're currently experiencing. As immediately satisfying as it may be, for psychologically normal individuals, taking another humans life is incredibly damaging. Be prepared for nightmares......for years.
