Re: My Horrifying Toes, and a Giant Pimple
Congrats on the zit! As for the toes I had a couple of my docs take a look. Because it's seasonal and doesn't look vascular the general consensus was some kind of fungus. Some kind of oral antifungal like Lamisil may clear it up but I'd get it cultured. One vote put in by a PA I respect said it may be HPV - no idea on how to confirm it though. Hope that helped a little! |

Re: My Horrifying Toes, and a Giant Pimple
That's true, it actually could be a fungus. My ex-husband had a really bad fungus on his toes. Actually yours look pristine and normal compared to his. But he said that when he was little, his twin brother dropped a rock on his toes in the creek near their house, and they have been like that ever since. I think you should try Fungi Cure or sometimes you can get anti fungal drops at a nail salon. Seriously, try it. Hope this helps! :)

Re: My Horrifying Toes, and a Giant Pimple
Just to explain further - a chilblain is caused by an abnormal reaction to cold. Hence the fact that they are occuring in winter as you said. They can be more likely to occur if your feet go from very cold to very warm in a short amount of time. Say, if you have cold feet and get in a hot bath or put your feet by the heater or fire. They are normally found on the parts of the toes that are pressure points. They are red, and may form blisters and the skin may break and later peel. They can be more frequent in people with bad circulation, such as diabetics. How long have you been getting these?

Re: My Horrifying Toes, and a Giant Pimple
Just a heads up: Antibiotic cream is not something that would be useful for a fungal infection. Antibiotics may actually cause fungal infections, as the bacteria keeps the fungus naturally found on our skin in check. This is why women often get thrush while taking a course of anti-biotics. Fungus is not bacteria. Antibiotics only treat bacteria. Also, this does not resemble a fungal infection, and they do not usually flare up in the winter - quite the opposite. Fungus requires a warm environment.
