My Foot
Figures the only thread I start would be my own. I fell 20 ft. From a ladder and shattered my Calcaneous (heelbone) in 10 pieces. Ain't that a bitch?

I have a buddy that did the same thing falling off a ladder, this last summer. He ended up with ten pins in his heel.

I've heard those fractures take anywhere from 6 - 12 months to heal fully, and can still cause a lot of discomfort when standing/walking for long periods of time, after.

That makes sense, considering our heels bear the brunt of the weight. Are you active in sports?

Not much any more. I used to play hockey as a kid and bmx in my teens. I never broke anything but I've seen a few of these injuries before, mostly work related. My buddy last summer fell off a ladder 20 ft up, [*edit: not ten pins, I think only a couple]shattering his foot in ten places(heel being one of the bones he broke), and my biological father slipped off a water truck he was cleaning and fractured both his heels. My father's happened about 2 years ago and he has a lot of problems walking/standing for too long still. It might be because he is in his fifties and not the most healthy guy, but his didn't heal as well as my buddy's(30yr) shattered foot. |
