Re: My Dog Has MRSA

Poor fella. Is he on painkillers or antibiotics? Do you think he'll get through it?

Re: My Dog Has MRSA

Poor sweetheart. And there was no way they could have known? No blood tests or x-rays they could have done to check up his progress?

Re: My Dog Has MRSA

Hope he pulls through for you.
I'm sure that surgery for the acl wasn't cheap either, only to have the hardware removed.

Needs to be on antibiotics...strong antibiotics.. Think they give humans vancomyacin for MRSA as first line..
Debridement, cleaning, and wound management/care.
Anyways. best of luck.

Re: My Dog Has MRSA

Good luck!
Afaik dogs are transient carriers, they usually clear the bacteria on their own within a couple of weeks: to talk to a vet may help as he could suggest you to apply some antibiotic cream to the skin infection, other things to do for sure are washing your hands as often as you can, tell your friends to not bring their pets when they come to visit you, avoid to be licked and touching his paws, wear gloves when you apply bandages (ask the vet how to do it) to the infected area.
I hope your dog will be ok soon, wish you 2 all the best.
