Re: My Carpal Tunnel Operation..

I'm a female with it. It's caused by repetitive motion over and over. And having it slammed on my console in a MVA, after which it was diagnosed, didn't help. I still drive with my hand on the gear selector, which started when I learned to drive a manual transmission at 16.
I still drive with my hand on my gear but I have yet to be diagnosed.

Not necessarily true. They do call it repetitive strain injury (RSI) but anything that irritates or inflames the tendons can cause it.

Mine started when I was doing lots of heavy weight training some 15 years ago. As time went by it would flare up more and more often, whenever I did any hard pulling or heavy work.

Sometimes it felt like my forearms were on fire, and I'd wake up every fifteen minutes during the night with my hands numb and burning. You can get braces to hold your hands in the best position, when you are asleep. They work quite well most of the time.

Re: My Carpal Tunnel Operation..

You can also get 'Cubital Tunnel Syndrome' where the nerve (the Ulnar nerve) that makes your funny bone so sensitive, also gets restricted/squeezed, where it runs through a bony channel under your elbow. I was tested for that too, some sort of electric sensitivity test. Mine was okay apparently.
