Much Needed Amputation.
This case involves a bedridden patient who required a leg amputation due to a combination of factors; including diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, lymphedema, and fungal and bacterial infections of the leg. The patient already had his left leg amputated several years ago due to similar circumstances, and he told hospital staff he was "strongly opposed" to the doctor's decision to amputate the right leg too. Unfortunately, due to the severity of the infection, amputation was the only option. Eventually, the patient agreed to the procedure, and probably saved his life with that decision.  · |

The patient as their own worst enemy. Was he going to just go home and put some moisturizer on it?

Mind you I'm not 100% on that but it's the impression I get since they never seem to realize their wounds are so bad.

The excess glucose in the blood destroys the nerves. So if they get injured they can't feel it, then injury gets infected.
