Re: Mrsa Infection

Most MRSA cases are caught in hospitals. My doctor said if you're sick, the worst place to be is at a hospital
docs and nurses should wash their claws more often.
Attempts to eradicate MRSA colonization among affected patients has proven difficult. Of more than 40 different decolonization regimens that have been tested during the last 60 years, topical intranasal application of mupirocin ointment has proven to be the most effective.

However, intranasal application of mupirocin has limited effectiveness in eradicating colonization in patients who carry the organism at multiple body sites. Furthermore, because decolonization of patients has virtually always been used in combination with other control measures, its efficacy has been difficult to determine.

Because MRSA is transmitted primarily on the hands of healthcare workers, greater emphasis should be given to improving hand hygiene practices among health personnel. For patients infected with MRSA, vancomycin remains a drug of choice.

Re: Mrsa Infection

Had two staph infections in my hand from small particles of metal in my skin due to work.
Also nearly lost my left arm due to this in a post op infection.
The way Staph tunnels as it infects and destroys flesh is gnarly.
The healing process on the hands was weird.
The skin would regrow under the area and push the destroyed dead skin to the top layers. couldn't feel the area. cut it away and no pain or blood, just a dead hole..
Seeing how far down it went with no pain freaked me out because it was all just dead. like callous-y.

I would freak out.

I just don't see myself handling being able to look inside my own body.

I just don't see myself handling being able to look inside my own body.
My aftercare for this, cleaning it out with a 6" swab and peroxide daily for 2 weeks til it was fully closed.
I was able to get the swab 3-4 inches in going up my forearm or up the back of my elbow/bicep.
Didn't really hurt doing it unless I hit the nerve.
(FWOUCH!)
Surgery was for cubital and carpal tunnel release, with the cubital tunnel being the area of infection.
(I think I have a post on here somewhere actually.)
Surgery was 10 years ago.

I totally give you props. I know it had to be done but it's scary. Sounds like you handled your business.
