Mononucleosis Mucus Chunk
Hours after my birthday in May 2012, I woke up with the worst sore throat of my life (until I had a tonsillectomy in 2014, haha). I went straight into my mom's room and told her I felt like I was dying. She told me to try and go back to bed. I did. I was super sick for days. I ended up going to urgent care and was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. I knew I had to let it run its course. I wasn't getting better. I must've gone back to the doctor at least five more times. The final doctor I saw asked "Have you been checked for mono?" I told him no. They did a strep test and mono test. We got a phone call a few days later. "The good news is, you don't have strep. The bad news is, you have mono." Mono was horrible, and since it's a viral infection, it has to run its course. Antibiotics won't do anything. Attached is what I hacked up. At the point that I hacked this up, I didn't have the mono diagnosis yet. It didn't come from my lungs. I sucked it down from my sinuses. I was only 15, and horrified. I put it into a container and brought it to the doctor. I like to make people guess what it is. The shape is interesting too. |

Re: Mononucleosis Mucus Chunk
Thank you! I joined because I love this stuff (as all of us members do), and then realized I had this picture saved. It's not like I'd post it anywhere else, haha. It was massive. I was way more afraid than grossed out. I wasn't grossed out at all actually, just so fascinated.

Re: Mononucleosis Mucus Chunk
Eeeww, that's epic! I've never had mono myself but one of my college mates did. He had to be hospitalized and put on drip as he couldn't eat or drink, or in fact swallow at all. He lost about six kilos/13 lbs in under two weeks. On top of that he was actually underweight already |
