They can do some amazing reconstruction work using tissue from other parts of the body. I saw photos of a new ear being made out of skin and cartilage (can't remember where they got the cartilage). But they had to like 'grow' it under the skin of the forearm for a few weeks before attaching it. So for a while this person had an ear shape in their forearm.
