A woman was scalped after suffering an accident while working at a chili packing plant in Ciudad Obregón, Sonora state, Mexico. The accident was reportedly caused by the woman's hair getting caught in the conveyor belt. As of last report, she was "convalescing" at hospital.

Gruesome, like something out of an old H.G. Lewis movie Scalping woulds this severe used to not be survivable but I guess modern medicine and antibiotic treatments have improved. Yes, likely wigs for the rest of her life but she'll look no more out-of-place than your average afro-american woman that destroys her hair before she's 25 with too many extension treatments or whatever else they do that damages their hairline beyond repair and has to rely on gaudy wigs to complement the extra long fake eyelashes

Loose clothing, long hair and long sleeves are all things that should be tucked up so as not to be caught by machinery. I’ve been through the loose clothing once. I didn’t need a second time to learn my lesson. Glad I don’t need to worry about the long hair.

They did a remarkable job patching up this person. For how bad their injuries were the cosmetic outcome is quite good (and will get even better as the scars fade.)
