If this was because of "Mercury exposure" then every damn person who wore a hat in the early parts of last century would have had these sorts of wounds, since hats were felted using mercury. Enough mercury will make you go mad, but not cause that sort of necrosis. The more likely explanation? Some twat stepped on a globe, got several shards of glass in there, didn't get it looked at properly and left it to fester for severy days to weeks before finally growing a brain and going to a doctor. |

I'm not sure about this either, gutts. I googled it and these two links came up: Mercury Fact Sheet and Human Exposure. I also tried a different keyword where someone asks what happens if you get powdered mercury in an open wound? in which someone cited a link on Mercury Spills. Either way, it looks painful. |
