Re: Manually De-cocking 1911
Manual de-cocking isn't my first choice, but I've done it safely numerous times. I use two hands to de-cock my 1911. Mr. Righty pulls the trigger while Mr. Lefty firmly grasps the hammer between thumb and forefinger and slowly guides it home, all the while pointing the muzzle in a safe direction. This fuckwit just forgot about the second rule of firearms safety: "Never point a gun at anything you are not willing to destroy." Lesson learned the hard way. |

Re: Manually De-cocking 1911
My buddy did the same thing. Trying to find a pic he sent me. Shot himself right threw the hand, blew his side window of his truck out. Bullet went threw door pilar and lodged in the windshield. Luckily just a couple stitches and no permanent damage.

Re: Manually De-cocking 1911
Many years ago I was pulled over by a cop who insisted on taking possession of my 1911 for the stop. I said let me unload it for you. He snapped he was a professional and knew how to unload a gun. He gets in his car and bang, bang, bang, bang. He shot his computer, radio, dashboard and then out the window. He gets out of the car and hands it back to me and says you better just keep it. I said it's not I could shoot you now, you used all my bullets. He shook his head and walked back to his car. I didn't get a ticket and I got interviewed a few days later by his Sgt and Lt. I unloaded the gun and let them try to make it safe and it went off on one of them, looked at them and said I guess he is headed for Lt.

Re: Manually De-cocking 1911
i use the same technique. but none of my body parts are blocking the muzzle and it is always pointed to the ground, soil specifically, when i do that. its a 380 so i can do it with just one hand.
