Manually De-cocking 1911
This guy attempted to manually de-cock his 1911 .45 ACP. The results are pretty obvious. Note to those who are contemplating this "technique"--don't.
If you are going to carry a 1911 then you need to carry it either in Condition 1 (round in chamber, hammer cocked and safety engaged) or unloaded.
This guy tried the old "hold on to the hammer" and ease it down trick. The hammer slipped, the gun discharged and he is the proud owner of a very large hole.
You can see that he shot through the door panel and the bullet stopped just short of exiting the steel.
Ammo was 185 gr Hornady VMAX.
It looks like he was holding the muzzle close to the palm of his left hand as he tried to de-cock the pistol.
Lesson learned?
